Today, Uggs have become a very popular option for winter footwear. I want to buy them, but I have doubts...
In fact, Uggs (footwear made from sheepskin with fleece inside and a smooth exterior, with a synthetic or rubber sole) are not as harmful to our feet as it may seem, says rehabilitation specialist Yulia NESTEROVA.
Uggs are quite loose and do not restrict toe movement, which is extremely important for foot health. Modern shoes are often too tight, and wearing them can lead to various foot problems, such as bunions or flat feet.
The only downside of this winter footwear, according to the expert, is the lack of arch support due to the flat insole and sole. However, this can be remedied by using special insoles and performing foot exercises.
In general, try to choose shoes that match the length of your foot, are spacious enough, but not so loose that your foot moves around inside. An optimal option would be a slight heel of up to 4 cm. In winter, to avoid injuries, it is better to wear shoes with a stiff back and support up to the ankle. Also, do not forget about the sole: it should be textured, not flat.
