How to Grow Green Onions at Home in Winter Using Plastic Bottles

In winter, fresh greens can be easily grown on a windowsill using ordinary plastic bottles. This will help save money, as winter greens are quite expensive. Creating a mini-nursery does not require much space and is easy to implement.

Any variety of onions can be used for growing green shoots, but shallots grow particularly well.

Take one-and-a-half-liter plastic bottles, cut them in half, and insert the top part with the neck into the bottom part.

Fill the bottles with soil, which can be easily found in gardening stores, and place the onion bulbs on top after cutting off the tops. The mini-farm is ready; it can be hung by a string on the wall or simply placed on a windowsill and watered.

Hanging is not mandatory: small containers can be placed on the windowsill. The first green shoots will appear in just three days, and a full harvest can be collected in 25 days.

Growing onions in bottles is possible at any time of the year and does not require special effort.
