Eight Tips on How to Keep Warm at Home During Cold Weather

When it’s winter outside, you don’t want to go out at all. Why freeze?! However, it can get cold in your home too! What should you do? How to keep warm?

It is very easy to keep warm in the house, regardless of how harsh the weather conditions become outside. Just follow these recommendations!

Warm Your Body, Not the Room

It is easier to change your body temperature than the room's, and it is more environmentally friendly. Instead of rushing to the radiators, put on an extra sweater and warm socks.

Wear a Hat

Admittedly, wearing a hat indoors may seem strange! However, you lose heat from any exposed surface in cold weather. So don’t forget to wear a hat, even when you are at home.

Take a Contrast Shower

A hot shower instantly warms you up, while a cold one improves circulation between the skin and internal organs. This is the perfect way to keep warm for a long time.

Insulate Windows and Doors

A simple tip is to prevent the wind from blowing through your home. Insulate even the doors between rooms so that cold air doesn’t draft in at night.

“Dress” Your Windows Warmer

Replace light curtains with thicker ones, such as wool or fleece, during the winter months. But remember to open them on sunny days to let in warmth.

Cook and Bake

Using the oven warms up your home. You will feel cozier if you invite friends over — and all the warmth from their bodies — to enjoy some cookies!

Cover Up with Blankets

Down blankets should be close to your body. On top, add thin, dense blankets to prevent heat loss. Additional tip: do not place the bed directly against an exterior wall. You will feel warmer if you leave a little space.

Warm Up Your Sheets Before Bed

Nothing is more unpleasant than jumping into a cold bed. You can warm up the sheets by placing a heating pad where your feet will go or by lightly warming them with a hairdryer.
