Sunflower oil surpasses olive oil: doctor highlights 7 more beneficial oils

In terms of nutrient content and their effect on the body, olive oil significantly lags behind sunflower oil. This was reported by gastroenterologist and dietitian Nuria Dianova.

“Olive oil contains 13.2% polyunsaturated fatty acids per 100 grams, while sunflower oil contains 65%.”

The specialist emphasized that both types of oils are almost entirely composed of fats and have similar calorie content.

Polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are highly valued in vegetable oils, make up 13.2% in olive oil per 100 grams, whereas in sunflower oil, their share reaches 65%. This means that the maximum benefit is found in sunflower oil, although both oils are certainly beneficial,” noted Dianova.

Doctor Tatyana Zakharova also named other beneficial oils:

Flaxseed oil

“Contains alpha-linolenic acid (Omega-3), which is an important component of a healthy diet, helps lower cholesterol levels, and reduces inflammatory processes in the body.”

Walnut oil

“Rich in alpha-linolenic acid (Omega-3) and oleic acid, which help reduce inflammation and improve blood circulation, and also contains antioxidants such as vitamin E that protect cells from damage.”

Avocado oil

Coconut oil

“Contains lauric acid, which may help improve cholesterol levels and maintain skin health. It can also be beneficial for the immune system due to its antiviral properties.”

Sesame oil

“Is a source of polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as linoleic and oleic acids, which promote heart health and may help lower blood pressure.”

Amaranth oil

“Rich in phytosterols, vitamin E, and polyunsaturated fatty acids, which help lower cholesterol levels, support skin health, and the immune system.”
