Biochemist Discusses the Health Benefits of Borscht

Biochemist Lyudmila Polikarpova claims that borscht positively affects human health and helps maintain beauty and youth.

 

“Let’s start with the fact that the value of meat broth made from bones is hard to overestimate. When prepared from bones, essential nutrients are released into the broth. Collagen, gelatin, proteins, and amino acids have a beneficial effect on connective, cartilage, and bone tissues, which helps improve the functioning of joints, ligaments, and tendons,” explained the expert.

According to the specialist, the iron found in meat is necessary for the normal functioning of muscles and blood. The vegetables included in borscht are rich in fiber, which improves digestion, speeds up metabolism, and helps lower cholesterol levels.

“Carrots contain beta-carotene — an antioxidant that slows down the aging process. Garlic and onions are rich in essential oils, phytoncides, trace elements, and vitamins. They help strengthen the immune system, protecting against harmful infections, possess antibacterial properties, and effectively combat intestinal parasites,” summarized Polikarpova.
