One of the oldest bakeries in Japan, Kimuraya, in collaboration with electronics company NEC Corp, has launched the production of 'romantic bread' using AI. The bakery decided to apply modern technologies to find out what love tastes like.
Artificial intelligence analyzed dialogues from romantic reality shows and lyrics from popular songs. Based on this data, emotional assessments were generated. As a result, five key aspects of relationships were identified: fateful meeting, first date, jealousy, resentment, and mutual love. Each of these aspects was transformed by the bakery into unique bread flavors, selecting ingredients that reflect the emotions associated with love.
The 'Fateful Meeting' bread has the aroma of cotton candy, symbolizing a sudden feeling. 'First Date' is filled with citrus notes of lime and orange.
The flavor of 'Jealousy' includes sweet potato, truffle oil, and raisins. 'Resentment' has the aroma of cider and grapes. And 'Mutual Love' is an exquisite blend of honey and peaches with the addition of dragon fruit (pitaya).
Kimuraya made the bread bright and colorful to visually express romantic feelings and create a memorable image of the product.
