The Key Myth About Coffee Debunked

It was previously believed that coffee could be harmful to people with irregular heart rhythms.

 

However, researchers from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center have debunked this claim. They conducted an analysis of existing literature and concluded that moderate coffee consumption does not increase the risk of arrhythmia; on the contrary, it reduces it.

These new findings are consistent with a study conducted in 2021, which showed that increased coffee consumption may lower the likelihood of developing heart failure. However, this does not mean that coffee is suitable for everyone. Some individuals exhibit heightened sensitivity to caffeine, which can negatively affect their well-being.

Thus, the new study confirms that there is no reason to believe that coffee worsens heart conditions. In some cases, caffeine may even be beneficial, but its consumption should be approached with caution, especially for individuals with atrial fibrillation and high blood pressure, and only after consulting a doctor.
