Neurobiologist Robert Lav stated that over 700 species of bacteria inhabit the human oral cavity. Some of them have a positive effect, while others can cause diseases such as periodontitis.
Moreover, the bacterium porphyromonas gingivalis, present in the oral cavity, is often associated with cognitive function impairments, which can lead to Alzheimer's disease. This bacterium also exacerbates inflammatory processes in the mouth and can cause neuroinflammation.
According to the expert, beetroot juice can help combat porphyromonas gingivalis. Therefore, Lav recommends consuming red beetroot daily or drinking freshly squeezed juice from it.
