Delightful Holiday Snack: Meatloaf with Dried Fruits (VIDEO)

Meatloaf with dried fruits is an original, simple, and delicious dish!

 

Ingredients

pork (loin) — 1300 g
dried apricots — 200 g
prunes — 200 g
sweet paprika powder — 1 tbsp.
Italian herbs (seasoning) — 1 tbsp.
black ground pepper — to taste
honey — 1-2 tbsp.
dry white wine — 150 ml
vegetable oil — 1-2 tbsp.
salt — to taste

This meatloaf with dried fruits not only looks impressive when sliced but also has an incredible taste. Tender meat infused with the aromas of herbs and spices, baked with the addition of white wine, pairs wonderfully with the sweetness of dried fruits. This loaf will be an exquisite decoration for the festive table and will take a worthy place among meat appetizers.

Preparing the meatloaf with dried fruits does not require special effort. It is recommended to prepare it a day before the celebration, as the meat needs to rest and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 5-6 hours.

Step-by-step Recipe

1. First, prepare the dried fruits. Rinse 200 g of dried apricots and soak them in boiling water for 10 minutes. Rinse 200 g of prunes and also soak them in boiling water for 10 minutes.

2. Rinse the pork loin and dry it with paper towels. Make four longitudinal cuts in the meat without cutting all the way through. The weight of the loin is 1 kg 300 g.

3. Evenly salt and pepper the entire piece of meat with black ground pepper. At this stage, you can stop, but I also added 1 tbsp. of red ground paprika and 1 tbsp. of Italian herbs.

4. Evenly distribute all the spices over the meat. Fill the cuts with the prepared dried fruits, alternating strips of prunes and dried apricots. In the end, there should be 2 rows of dried apricots and 2 rows of prunes.

5. Tie the meat with culinary thread so that all the dried fruits remain inside and the pieces do not fall apart when sliced. If you don’t have culinary thread, you can use regular cotton thread, folded several times.

6. Grease a baking dish with vegetable oil and place the prepared meat in it. Brush the top with honey, which will be needed in the amount of 1-2 tbsp. If the honey is too thick, it can be slightly warmed in the microwave. Also, brush the meat with vegetable oil. Pour 150 ml of dry white wine into the dish. You can use water instead of wine.

7. Place everything in a preheated oven at 180 degrees. Bake for about 90 minutes, basting the meat with the sauce that forms several times during cooking.

8. After baking, remove the meat from the oven. Cover it with foil and after cooling, place it in the refrigerator overnight to marinate.

9. In the morning, remove the threads from the meat. Slice into portioned pieces and serve.

10. The meat with dried fruits turned out very beautiful and tasty. The salty taste of the meat perfectly complements the sweetness of the dried fruits.
