Researchers from Texas found that regular consumption of cardamom allows for weight loss without restricting calorie intake. The results of the study were published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences.
Cardamom is a well-known spice with a unique herbal flavor that has hints of mint, pepper, and eucalyptus. In an experiment, scientists added seeds of this spice to the diet of animals. It was found that cardamom not only increases appetite but also promotes faster burning of excess calories by increasing energy expenditure.
Researchers calculated that for a man weighing 60 kg, the minimum dose of cardamom is 77 mg, which is equivalent to 8-10 pods per day. This spice affects the neural pathways responsible for fat breakdown and energy production in skeletal muscles and the liver.
Additionally, scientists identified other beneficial properties of cardamom, including its anti-inflammatory effects. Experiments showed that the spice can reduce inflammatory processes, preventing them from becoming chronic.
