The Optimal Time for Dinner: How to Avoid Stroke, According to Scientists

Nutrition plays a key role in maintaining human health. However, it is important not only to choose quality products for a balanced diet but also to consider the optimal timing for their consumption. This will help reduce the risk of serious diseases, including cardiovascular diseases.

In order to determine the impact of meal timing on human health, researchers conducted an extensive analysis involving 103,389 participants. The majority of them were women (79%) aged between 34 and 50 years.

The scientists investigated the relationship between eating patterns and the risk of cardiovascular diseases among the participants. To ensure the accuracy of the scientific analysis and to eliminate potential systemic errors, the collected data was adjusted for socio-demographic factors such as age, gender, marital status, diet quality, lifestyle, and sleep patterns.

The study found that delaying breakfast increases the likelihood of cardiovascular diseases by 6% for each hour. That is, if a person has breakfast at 9 or 10 a.m., the risk increases by 6% or 12%, respectively, compared to those who eat at eight in the morning.

Even more concerning is late dinner. In this case, the risk of stroke increases by up to 28% for those who dine after 9 p.m. People who finish their meals before 8 p.m. are not at this risk. The most significant association was found among women participating in the study. The results of the work were published in the journal Nature Communications.
