Nutritionist Elena Tikhomirova debunked the common myth about the importance of an early breakfast. She claims that a person can eat a few hours after waking up, and it will not harm the body.
“Every person is unique. If someone doesn’t feel like eating in the morning, that’s perfectly normal. There is neither harm nor benefit in eating 2-3 hours after waking up,” noted the expert.
According to the nutrition specialist, if a person who is not used to having breakfast right after waking up decides to have a hearty breakfast, they may experience drowsiness and lethargy throughout the day.
“However, if a person realizes that by skipping breakfast they will also skip lunch and eat a lot at night, that is already a bad thing,” emphasized Tikhomirova.
Nevertheless, the nutritionist highlighted a group of people for whom skipping breakfast is not an option. These are patients following a therapeutic diet, for example, those with chronic gastritis, ulcers, etc.
“For healthy individuals, there are no strict recommendations in this regard. Everyone can have breakfast at a time that is most comfortable for them,” concluded the doctor.
