Nutritionist Valentina Torshina spoke about the significance of buckwheat for women's health.
According to the specialist, women often experience iron deficiency anemia, which is related to physiological characteristics. Therefore, the fairer sex should pay more attention to their iron levels in the blood. Buckwheat can help replenish this mineral deficiency, as it is rich in this important micronutrient.
"It is important to remember that plant-based iron is absorbed only 8-18 percent of the time, while heme (animal) iron is absorbed 15-35 percent of the time," the expert warned.
To improve iron absorption, the nutritionist recommends combining buckwheat with fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs that are high in vitamin C.
