The Nutritionist Revealed the Unexpected Benefits of Avocado

Avocado is one of the most calorie-dense fruits. It contains 120-160 kcal per 100 grams, depending on the variety. The high calorie content is due to the significant amount of beneficial unsaturated fats found in avocado.

In addition, avocado is rich in vitamins A, E, D, and K, which are better absorbed in combination with fats. Nutritionist Dr. Laura Burak claims that the high calorie content of avocado does not mean that its consumption leads to weight gain. On the contrary, studies show that this fruit helps reduce appetite and promotes weight loss.

Laura Burak is confident that the exotic fruit is an excellent addition to the diet of those looking to shed extra pounds. It is a great source of omega-3 and fiber—a powerful combination that helps stabilize blood sugar levels, slows digestion, and reduces food cravings.

“Including avocado in your diet once or twice a day will help you feel full and avoid unnecessary snacking. This will help the body avoid excessive calorie intake and speed up the weight loss process,” says the doctor.

The specialist cites data from a study by American scientists who compared the health of people on a regular diet and those on an avocado diet. It turned out that those who regularly consumed up to one avocado a day lost weight faster than those who followed a diet without it. A survey of the experiment participants also showed that half an avocado eaten at lunch extended the feeling of fullness for several hours, reports ETNT.

“Avocado is a powerful source of nutrients. It can be eaten alone or added to various dishes—sliced on sandwiches, added to smoothies or fruit salads. This will give you energy, lift your spirits, and help you concentrate under high mental load,” notes Laura Burak.

The nutritionist emphasizes that despite all the benefits, avocado should be consumed in moderation. It is significantly higher in calories than many fresh products. To avoid unwanted consequences while losing weight, it is recommended not to eat more than one fruit a day.
