On Saturday, May 16, at the airport in the Croatian city of Split, a passenger Airbus A220-300 from Croatia Airlines veered off the runway, reports N1.
It should be noted that A220-300 aircraft (previously known as Bombardier CS300) make up the main fleet of the Latvian unprofitable airline airBaltic.
However, let's return to Croatia. The plane operating the flight from Split to Frankfurt with more than 130 passengers on board veered off the runway during takeoff, resulting in damage.
According to Split Airport, passengers and crew were evacuated, and no one was injured.
"It (the plane) sustained damage as a result of a collision with a vertical marker post and the edge lights of the runway (USS), but none of the passengers were harmed," said Mate Melvan, head of the passenger check-in and disembarkation service.
The airport is cooperating with HACZ and the Aviation Accident Investigation Agency, which has been informed of the incident, Melvan said.
