In Austria, law enforcement has launched an investigation into a kindergarten employee from Vienna, who is suspected of having a relationship with a 14-year-old student, reports Bild.
According to media reports, the woman was ten years older than the teenager and acknowledged the occurrence. It is also claimed that shortly before the investigation began, she lost her own child and attempted to explain her actions as a result of the tragedy she experienced.
As noted in the publication, the teacher's colleagues allegedly knew about her meetings with the teenager for several months but did not report it to the police. After the pregnancy and subsequent loss of the child, the woman took sick leave.
She may now face punishment under Article 212 of the Austrian Penal Code, which provides for liability for abuse of office. The maximum penalty under this article is up to three years of imprisonment and a monetary fine.
Additionally, the investigation is considering the possibility of more serious charges if it is determined that the teenager was 13 years old at the time of the incident.
