The prosecutor's office has submitted a criminal case to the Latgale District Court regarding the murder of a man who was stabbed 106 times last year in one of the parks in Daugavpils.
According to the investigation, two defendants met a man near one of the city stores, after which a conflict arose between them.
During the quarrel, the defendants, being under the influence of alcohol and driven by personal animosity and aggression, began to beat the victim with their hands and feet on the head and body. From the blows, the man fell to the ground.
Taking advantage of the moment when the attackers were distracted, the victim managed to get up and ran into the store, where he asked for help from the staff.
The defendants waited for the man to leave the premises, after which they grabbed him and took him to a nearby park, continuing to beat him along the way.
In the park, the attackers inflicted at least 106 stab wounds on the victim with knives they had brought with them. Of these, 73 wounds were inflicted on the chest and abdomen.
From the injuries sustained, the man died, recalls the grim story from the regional portal grani.lv.
