Emergency service vehicles gathered at the building opposite the Children's Hospital during the day.
A fire broke out on the roof of a two-story building, presumably due to renovation work, and it was impossible to cope with the flames without the help of rescuers, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3).
On the first floor of the building is a shop, and the saleswoman told the show "Degpunktā" that she noticed a small amount of smoke outside but did not pay much attention to it. Zemessargi were passing by, and it was they who called the emergency services.
While the firefighters were working on the roof of the building, the store continued to serve customers.
"The firefighters arrived quickly. Everything happened promptly," the saleswoman said.
The roof of the building, covering an area of six square meters, was burned. The fire did not affect the apartments; however, residents will have to deal with the consequences of flooding in the premises due to the firefighting efforts. This time, the saying is particularly apt — they wanted the best, but it turned out as always.
The commander of the 2nd division of the Riga State Fire and Rescue Service, Edgars Tralla, reported that, according to residents, renovation work was being carried out on the roof using an open flame, which ignited the roof structures.
