Parts of the hotel owner and six pairs of shoes were found inside the crocodile in South Africa, local news portal News 24 reported.
59-year-old hotel and bar owner Gabriel Batista went missing during a downpour. His car got stuck on a flooded bridge over the Crocodile River, where he was swept into the water.
The search operation concluded with fragments of human remains found in the stomach of a 500-kilogram crocodile. A week later, police spotted a huge crocodile. After it was shot, parts of a body and a ring belonging to Batista, as well as six pairs of shoes of different sizes, were discovered in the stomach of the 4.5-meter predator.
The predator, measuring about 4.5 meters, was found on the riverbank near the bridge where the man went missing. The police captain who led the search stated that the reptile had become so heavy from what it had eaten that it didn’t even attempt to escape. The dead crocodile was airlifted to Kruger National Park, where specialists conducted an autopsy. Human hands and a part of a rib cage were found in the crocodile's stomach.
The tragedy occurred amid severe flooding; however, the scale of the discovery raised questions for the investigation, reports bb.lv. The police are currently continuing the investigation, trying to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
