Being a trolleybus driver is not easy. Especially when such situations occur

Around 15:00 on Brivibas Street in Riga, the driver of the BMW did not notice that the trolleybus was stopping at the stop to let passengers off and crashed into it from behind. For an hour, traffic at the scene was hindered; however, this did not affect the movement of the next public transport. After being examined by medical personnel, the driver of the passenger car was taken to the hospital, reports the program Degpunktā (TV3).

On Brivibas Street heading towards the center, trolleybus No. 12 stopped at the Krišjāņa Barona Street stop, and an SUV BMW crashed into its rear. The front of the car was damaged and the airbags deployed, reports TV3.

The trolleybus had been empty for some time, with only the driver remaining, who was writing an explanation. She stated that after the strong impact, the driver of the car was severely stunned and could not get out of the vehicle on her own.

"The ambulance helped her get out of the car; she couldn’t do it herself. (DP: Move, walk?) Well, something was a bit wrong with her arm. A little," said the trolleybus driver.

When asked who helped the injured woman, she replied: "The passengers helped. Two other women were waiting for the bus. We had five passengers… How many were there, and that’s it. (DP: Don’t you know why?) I don’t know. (DP: Maybe she was on her phone or the sun blinded her?) I don’t know. I was looking at my stop here, so I needed to let people off. I didn’t know there would be such a big, beautiful car behind me."

The driver of the passenger car was taken to the hospital after being examined by medical personnel. The police are investigating why the woman did not notice the trolleybus stopping at the stop to let passengers off and was unable to brake.
