On Thursday, a large and destructive fire broke out at one of the farms in the Ogre municipality. The cause of the fire will be investigated by the State Police; however, fortunately, no people were harmed.
A fire covering 1000 square meters started on Thursday shortly after 14:00, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3). When the firefighters arrived, the building was already heavily ablaze, the surroundings were enveloped in thick smoke, and it was necessary to quickly begin rescue operations. A total of six fire trucks and additional equipment arrived at the scene.
“Work was not easy. This was a high-risk fire,” said Arthur Reinholds, deputy commander of the Ogre division of the Emergency Services, pointing out that a utility building with a basement was on fire.
The water source was located a few hundred meters from the burning building — it was an open water body. However, to expedite the work, local residents came to assist the firefighters by bringing water in tankers.
There were other buildings near the utility structure, but fortunately, they were able to be saved. There were no injuries in the fire.
