Three People Detained in Valmiera for Hooliganism and Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer

Yesterday at the Valmiera bus station, three young people attacked a 2011-born boy, causing him bodily harm, after which the victim was taken to a medical facility. During the conflict, the attackers resisted and also assaulted State Police officers who noticed the incident and intervened. A criminal process has been initiated under articles on hooliganism and assault on a law enforcement officer, and all three have been detained.

On February 11, 2026, at 18:37, in the Valmiera region, in Valmiera, on Station Street, at the Valmiera bus station, a fight broke out between several individuals, during which three attacked a 2011-born teenager.

The State Police quickly arrived at the scene. Upon arrival, it was established that young people born in 2005, 1999, and 2001 had grossly violated public order and engaged in a physical conflict with a 2011-born boy, causing him bodily harm. The injured party was taken to a medical facility with bruises.

According to initial information, the conflict began after the victim made a remark to the group regarding a broken bottle. Following the remark, a fight broke out among the participants.

The incident was noticed by State Police officers, who immediately intervened. However, the attackers actively resisted and also assaulted the police officers. All three were swiftly detained and taken to the station for clarification of the circumstances.

In connection with the incident, a criminal process has been initiated under articles on hooliganism and assault on a law enforcement officer. One of the State Police officers sought medical attention after the incident.

All three detainees have been placed in a temporary detention facility. It should be noted that this group was previously known to the State Police.

The State Police urges witnesses of the incident who may provide information to call 112.
