About two hundred potential law enforcement officers are expected to attend.
The Swedish police are launching a new advertising campaign aimed at attracting more people of foreign descent to the profession. The campaign is being conducted on social media and is complemented by a large informational event in Stockholm.
Swedish society is changing, and the authorities want to adapt to these changes. In previous years, the police tried to attract immigrants to their ranks by posting advertisements in various languages across the country.
But this time, the Swedish police have focused on a meeting that will gather more than 200 people interested in police work.
"Society is changing, and we, the police officers, must adapt to these changes. This informational meeting will be of great help to people who have questions and concerns," said police officer Bosiao Pan (pictured right).
The informational meeting is scheduled for February 10 at the police building in Kungsholmen. During the meeting, there will be a panel discussion where anyone can ask questions and express their concerns.
"It is much easier for us to work when we have police officers among us who speak different languages and possess various skills," said Bosiao Pan.
Crime in Sweden, especially the rise of gang violence and shootings, has become a serious problem, with a high rate of gun-related deaths in Europe often linked to poor integration of immigrants and the gap between the rich and the poor. The country is facing an increase in gun-related crimes and gang activities that exploit the protection of minors, who cannot be prosecuted until the age of 15, raising concerns and necessitating enhanced security measures.
