Over the course of a day, two people were injured and one died as a result of fires, reported the State Fire and Rescue Service (GPRS).
Yesterday at 12:14, a call was received on Tvaika Street in Riga, where items were burning in an apartment on the second floor of a five-story residential building, covering an area of two square meters. A person was rescued from the smoke-filled apartment, who was injured and handed over to the Emergency Medical Service.
Ten people were evacuated from the building. There was no smoke detector in the apartment where the fire occurred.
At 1:29 AM, a call was received in the Kuldiga region, where a two-story residential house was burning with open flames. Before the arrival of the State Fire and Rescue Service (GPRS), two people evacuated from the building. One person died in the fire.
In total, the GPRS received 55 calls over the past day - 16 for fire extinguishing, 25 for rescue operations, and 14 calls were false.
