On January 8, Riga Municipal Police received information about a Volvo vehicle, possibly being driven by a person without a valid driver's license.
While patrolling the vicinity of Kengarags, law enforcement officers noticed the specified vehicle and repeatedly demanded through a loudspeaker that it stop. The driver ignored the orders.
Ultimately, by blocking the road with a service vehicle, the police managed to stop the car. During a conversation with the individuals inside, the driver admitted that he did not have a license and suddenly began to flee. Municipal police immediately initiated a chase — the vehicle entered the courtyards of apartment buildings.
After a while, the driver abruptly stopped and, exiting the car, attempted to run away along with a passenger. During a search of the area, the police managed to apprehend the passenger, who was hiding in the courtyard of one of the houses. A search revealed a packet containing a white powdery substance in his pocket.
Further procedural actions at the scene were carried out by officers of the State Police. Later, the identity of the driver was also established, and he was held accountable.
