A classic location, a classic situation — this is how the incident on the November 11 embankment under the Stone Bridge, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, can be characterized. The truck driver damaged his vehicle by ignoring road signs indicating the height of the bridge, blocking one of the traffic lanes for several hours, reports the Degpunktā program (TV3).
Despite the fact that several signs warning about the height of the overpass are installed on the November 11 embankment before the Stone Bridge, as well as a designated detour for vehicles that exceed the permissible dimensions, there is still a driver who blocks traffic. This time, the culprit admitted that he trusted modern technology too much.
"The navigator was guiding me, I didn’t pay attention. I’m at fault. There’s paper in the trailer," said the truck driver.
Both the tractor and the trailer were damaged, with the trailer almost completely destroyed. It took time to unload the cargo, and only after that could a tow truck be called. Fortunately, only one of the two lanes of traffic was blocked, and although vehicle movement slowed down, it continued nonetheless.
