Three people sustained serious injuries while using fireworks during the holiday, the LETA agency was informed by the Emergency Medical Service.
In the past 24 hours, the service received 1003 calls, which is not significantly different from the number of calls on a typical weekend, but three calls were related to fireworks.
In two cases, firecrackers exploded near people's faces, resulting in serious facial injuries, including wounds, facial burns, and eye damage. In both cases, individuals were launching firecrackers while under the influence of alcohol.
In the third case, a minor was injured: a 17-year-old boy had a firework explode in his hand, causing injuries to his fingers, including burns.
