Drunk man did not reach his apartment and died from blood loss right in the entrance

Last weekend in Mežciems, a 40-year-old man died in the entrance of his own home. Upon discovering the bloodied person, neighbors called emergency services, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3).

Blood on several floors of the entrance raised many questions among the residents. No one knows exactly what happened over the weekend. Possible scenarios were discussed on social media, but there were more questions than answers. There was only a guess that residents from the eighth floor might be involved in the incident.

"I don’t know, the guy was lying there. Apparently, he was already dead. The police came. I returned late, didn’t see anything. He was not the quietest neighbor. The police had been called to them before," one of the residents said.

Judging by the amount of blood still noticeable in the entrance, the man most likely lay near the garbage chute. The day before, a neighbor from above heard noise in the apartment, but on the day of the tragedy, she noticed nothing suspicious. A woman with small children and the mentioned man lived in the apartment.

"This is not the first case. They often had noisy gatherings. What exactly happened that day — I don’t know. The man often couldn’t make it to his apartment," the deceased's neighbor said.

Residents of the building speculated that a conflict or intentional murder could have occurred, but those who knew the man better leaned towards the version that he might have injured himself: "Maybe he drank too much or took something extra. He had fallen and hurt himself before."

Unfortunately, this time the injuries were too severe, and the man died.

According to information obtained during the investigation, the man was in a state of intoxication and fell in the entrance, resulting in severe injuries. Currently, there is no data indicating that a crime was committed, police reported.
