Filling out the agreed notification will now be easier. What do drivers need to know?

In the run-up to the holidays, the number of minor collisions on the roads noticeably increases. In a hurry, someone may dent a door or, while reversing, hit the rear of another vehicle. Drivers, especially in supermarket parking lots, often forget the right-hand rule, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3).

To alleviate the workload of the State Police, employees of the Latvian Vehicle Bureau and insurers are urging the use of the agreed notification in the case of minor traffic accidents. Recently, an innovative feature has been introduced – filling out the agreed notification via the WhatsApp messenger. This is the simplest and most straightforward way to quickly resolve issues on the road. How does it work?

To simplify life for drivers and reduce the burden on State Police patrols, the Latvian Bureau of Vehicle Insurers has introduced a new feature by the end of the year – the ability to fill out the agreed notification through the WhatsApp messenger.

The link to the chat can be found on the website of the Latvian Bureau of Vehicle Insurers – ltab.lv, by contacting the bureau itself or your insurer. Both drivers must have a smartphone and the ability to identify themselves using Smart-ID or an electronic signature.

The option to fill out the agreed notification through a special application or to use the tried-and-true paper version remains in effect. Currently, data indicates that agreed notifications are filled out in approximately 70% of traffic accidents. However, the goal is to significantly increase this figure.

We remind you that the agreed notification can be filled out if two vehicles are involved in the accident, which remain operational and do not require a tow truck, no one is injured, and no third-party property is damaged.
