A major fire occurred in the Darzini area, near Rumbula. One family has been left homeless as their residence was completely destroyed by the flames. The fire started around 4:00 AM and woke many nearby residents, who also had to worry about their property, reports the Degpunktā program (TV3).
Emergency service vehicles gathered on the narrow streets of Darzini near a private house. Both the homeowners and other local residents endured a restless night. Degpunktā met a woman who received a worried call from her neighbor around four in the morning — her house was on fire.
When she woke up, the flames were already strong. She immediately called her neighbor back, who fortunately was fine — she had managed to escape from the house. A family lived in the building.
The neighboring house also suffered minor damage — windows were shattered, and the finishing melted. However, even in the middle of the night, those nearby did not remain indifferent.
The neighbor also suggested what might have caused the fire: "I have wanted to say for a long time that they had a lamp burning at the end there every night..."
The area of the affected house was about 360 square meters, and firefighters battled the flames for more than six hours. They had to break through the roof structures and extinguish the flames inside the premises. But even upon arrival at the scene, difficulties arose — the nearest water source was a kilometer away.
The house was completely burned down, and at least for the foreseeable future, its owners will not be able to return to life in this building.
