A woman has been arrested in connection with the attempted double murder that occurred last week in Marupe, LTV reported.
Details are reported as follows: a woman, allegedly due to a family conflict, poisoned her partner and child with an unknown substance on December 8 in Marupe, and then attempted to take her own life.
Medical professionals managed to save all family members. The woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted double murder, and the police continue their investigation.
According to information from the broadcast, all three were discovered by a relative who called the Emergency Medical Service (EMS).
EMS representative Arita Freimane confirmed that on the specified day, the service received a call in Marupe regarding the health condition. She noted that three medical teams arrived at the scene, which transported the three individuals to the hospital in stable condition and conscious; one of the victims was a minor.
In turn, Deputy Head of the 1st Division of the Riga Criminal Police Vyacheslav Gudovsky confirmed that a criminal process has been initiated regarding the discovery of a family in a private home in Marupe — three individuals who were under the strong influence of medications.
The criminal proceedings have been initiated under paragraph 4 of Article 15 and paragraph 2 of Article 118 of the Criminal Law — for the attempted murder of two individuals, after which the suspect attempted to commit suicide by poisoning herself with a substance of unknown origin.
Gudovsky reported that examinations have been appointed and the circumstances of the incident are being clarified. Previously, the family had not come to the attention of the police.
The police did not disclose more detailed information about the victims or the arrested individual. It is known that the child poisoned by their own mother is a minor — not yet 14 years old.
