A physics teacher has been arrested for sexual violence against minors, according to data available to the LETA agency.
The arrest took place last week in the Tukums region, confirmed the State Police.
The police have initiated a criminal case under part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code — for sexual violence, if it resulted in serious consequences or was committed against a person under the age of 16. Such a crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to 15 years.
The man is currently in custody.
The director of the educational institution informed the LETA agency that the police were alerted by the parents about the incident.
The director is withholding the number of potential victims of the pedophile, as disclosing this information is prohibited. The police are also not providing further comments on the criminal case.
The school is currently looking for a psychologist to provide support to students in grades 1–9.
