In Kyiv, a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of raping an 11-year-old schoolgirl whom he found on a dating app. The suspect faces 10 to 15 years of imprisonment for the rape of a person under 14 years of age, reports 24tv.ua.
The police reported that the man met the 11-year-old schoolgirl on a dating app and corresponded with her for two weeks. Throughout this time, he sought common topics to discuss with the girl to gain her trust.
Later, the young man invited the schoolgirl to walk in a park. During the walk, he led the girl into an abandoned building and raped her.
Subsequently, the girl told her mother about everything, after which a woman contacted the police, reporting that an unknown man had raped her minor daughter. Within a day, operatives located and arrested the suspect. He turned out to be a 22-year-old native of Sumy, who currently lives in Kyiv.
The actions of the suspect are qualified under part 4 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, specifically as rape committed against a person under fourteen years of age, regardless of their voluntary consent, the prosecutor's office reported.
The penalty for this article provides for imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years.
