84-year-old Antonio F. lay in his own bedroom for a decade and a half until neighbors called the police due to leaks after heavy rains. Arriving firefighters forced open the apartment door and discovered a fully decomposed skeleton in clothing. Preliminary investigations showed that the pensioner died of natural causes.

"Some neighbors thought he was moved to a nursing home, while others assumed that relatives took him in," the publication notes. Over the years, a utility bill debt of 11,000 euros (about 1.1 million rubles) accumulated. It was partially paid off by his pension, which continued to be credited. It turned out that the deceased had not maintained contact with his ex-wife, children, or other relatives.
