Two Girls Killed at the Crossing in Imanta (UPDATED) 0 23

Eyewitnesses report that at the railway crossing in Imanta, two girls who tried to cross in front of a train on a scooter were struck by an electric train.

One witness of the incident writes: "Two girls decided to cross the crossing on an electric scooter, they were hit by the train and dragged for several meters. I really hope they survive."

According to eyewitnesses, the girls were riding a red rented scooter across the crossing and tried to make it before the train.

According to unverified reports, one girl died at the scene. According to the state police, both girls died as a result of the tragic collision.

UPDATED: The accident occurred after 6:00 PM. The emergency medical service reports that three medical teams attempted to save one of the victims, but the injuries were too severe. Even before the doctors arrived, the other girl had already died.

State police representative Madara Šeršņova stated: "According to initial information, at the railway crossing, the train struck two girls who were moving on an electric scooter. As a result of the accident, both died. State police officers continue to work at the scene of the incident."
