The country stands out with the highest number of calls compared to European states.
The length of the fiber optic network in Turkey has reached 657,000 kilometers, which is 16 times the length of the Earth's equator.
In his written statement, Uraloglu analyzed data from the Information Technologies and Communications Authority for the third quarter of 2025 regarding the electronic communications sector.
The minister noted that as of the end of September 2025, there were 408 operators in the electronic communications sector, and the number of licenses issued to them was 757.
According to him, as of the end of the third quarter, the number of fixed-line subscribers was 8.5 million, while the number of mobile subscribers was approximately 99.1 million. In the third quarter of 2025, the volume of mobile traffic was about 80.7 billion minutes, and the volume of fixed traffic was 1.2 billion minutes. Thus, approximately 82 billion minutes of calls were made from mobile and fixed lines.
Noting that about 80% of mobile subscribers are individuals and 20% are corporate subscribers, the minister stated: "With an average mobile usage duration of 494 minutes per month, Turkey, in the third quarter of 2025, as in the previous period, became the country with the highest number of calls among European countries that can be analyzed."
Uraloglu reported that approximately 4.9 million mobile numbers were ported during the specified period, and by September 30, 2025, the number of ported mobile numbers reached about 203 million.
Of the 20.9 million broadband internet subscribers, 77.3 million are mobile subscribers.
"In the country, we have reached 98.2 million broadband internet subscribers, with the number of internet subscribers increasing by 1.9% compared to the same period last year. The highest growth, 26.3%, was recorded in the number of 'fiber to the home' subscribers, followed by a 26.1% increase in the number of 'wireless internet (fixed)' subscribers. In terms of fiber optic infrastructure, the length of the fiber optic network, which was about 588,000 kilometers in the same period last year, reached about 657,000 kilometers in the third quarter of 2025, an increase of 11.7%. Thus, our fiber optic network has reached a length equal to 16 times the length of the Earth," emphasized Abdulkadir Uraloglu.
