In northeastern Spain, three teenagers aged 12 and 13 died while swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. They jumped into the water from the rocks, after which they were swept away by a strong current.

The tragedy occurred off the coast of the city of Tarragona. Six teenagers went swimming in the Mediterranean Sea and jumped into the water from the rocks. Soon, three of them found themselves in a strong current.

Three teenagers managed to get to the shore on their own. The others were rescued from the water by lifeguards.

A 12-year-old boy died at the scene. Two 13-year-old teenagers were taken to the hospital, but they could not be saved — they later died.

The accident happened in an area of the coast where there were no lifeguards on duty. At that moment, a yellow flag was raised on the beach. It does not prohibit swimming but warns of dangerous conditions in the sea and recommends refraining from entering the water.

The authorities of Tarragona, located about 100 kilometers from Barcelona, declared a period of mourning in connection with the children's deaths.
