The phone conversation with Donald Trump's special envoy and his son-in-law took place on June 3, said RDIF head Kirill Dmitriev. "I think we will see even more active steps in this dialogue in the near future," he added.

Kirill Dmitriev, the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), stated that on June 3, he had a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy, Stephen Whitcoff, as well as with Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. "Just yesterday we spoke on the phone with both him (Whitcoff - Ed.) and Jared Kushner," Dmitriev told reporters on Thursday, June 4, in St. Petersburg, where the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is taking place.

Dmitriev expects "even more active steps" in the dialogue

According to Kirill Dmitriev, who is a special representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, "there is a constant dialogue because the American side is trying to promote peace."

"I think we will see even more active steps in this dialogue in the near future," Dmitriev said. "The dialogue is complex, but we appreciate President Trump's team for the peaceful initiatives they are demonstrating," he noted.

Trump denied agreements with Putin regarding Donbass

Earlier, on May 12, Donald Trump, speaking with the press, negatively responded to a question about whether there was an agreement between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin that all of Donbass should be transferred to Russia.

"Is there some understanding between you and Putin that Russia should receive all of Donbass?" a journalist inquired. "No," Trump replied succinctly.

At the end of February, negotiations for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine stalled due to territorial disagreements between the parties. Later, Washington's attention shifted to the U.S. and Israel's war against Iran.
