Instead of fingerprints - eye scanning?

A "world passport" is being created.

Scanning the iris of the eyes for a "world passport." What is World ID?

The development allows users to be verified using their unique eye iris, writes the portal "Duty Officer in America." After scanning, the system assigns each user an anonymous identifier (World ID). It can be used without linking to a name, address, or other personal identification data.

The World project is the brainchild of American billionaire and ChatGPT creator Sam Altman. He believes such a system is an inevitable safeguard for the future when "AI will create more content than humans." In April, World announced a partnership with developers of Tinder, Zoom, and DocuSign.

Special devices called Orb are used to read biometric data. The company claims to have already collected data from over 18 million people in 160 countries. However, some states are raising alarms about the ethics of collecting citizens' biometric data. In several European countries, the project has been completely banned with a demand for the ability to delete already collected materials.

As noted by ZME Science, the technology could help combat deepfakes and online fraud, but it may also increase pressure on users who do not want to provide their biometric data.
