According to Wirtualna Polska, the project for a permanent American military base in Poland is becoming increasingly realistic. This is not about expanding existing facilities, but about creating entirely new infrastructure.
Location options: Areas near Wrocław or Poznań are being considered - close to major cities and airports. This is important, as the future base will not only house military personnel but also their families.
Project scale: It is planned to accommodate about 5,000 American servicemen, and with families, up to 25,000 people in one complex. The total number of US presence in Poland may increase to 11,000–15,000 military personnel.
Cost: Estimates suggest that expenses from the Polish side could range from 10 to 12 billion zlotys (2.3-4 billion euros) or even more. The majority of the funds will go towards building infrastructure and housing, as reported by Polish Radio in Russian.
The decision to prepare the base is already supported at the level of the Polish government. The US is considering various options for the deployment of units, including the 2nd Cavalry Regiment from Germany.
As sources note, final decisions regarding the location, funding, and specific units have not yet been made.
