According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the Trump administration is stepping away from the agreements reached in Alaska. Moscow intends to achieve its goals while continuing the war against Ukraine.

Moscow no longer considers Washington an objective mediator in negotiations with Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Tuesday, June 23. "As for the United States, as far as one can assess their actions, they seem to be stepping away from the claim to be an objective mediator and are following the same course of increasing sanctions pressure on Russia," Lavrov said at a roundtable with journalists in Moscow on the topic of resolving the situation around Ukraine.

According to him, the statement made immediately after the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska by U.S. President Donald Trump, that Ukraine "needs long-term peace, not a truce for a couple of years," has been "forgotten." "Now we are focusing on achieving the goals of the special military operation (Russia's war against Ukraine - Ed.), based on the fact that all Western approaches and all hopes for the West as an honest mediator have long since failed," Lavrov added.

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was referred to by the Russian minister as a "fuhrer," and the statements of EU leaders regarding the cessation of hostilities were labeled as "demands for Russia's capitulation." Lavrov also expressed the opinion that the "current elites in Europe" do not hide that they are preparing for war with Russia "no later than 2030." At the same time, according to him, Russia is "ready to resume negotiations with Ukraine at the point where they stopped." Lavrov did not specify what he meant, but media representatives suggested that it also referred to Alaska.

Lavrov again publicly resorted to profanity

A fragment of a video recording from the roundtable has circulated on social networks and media, where Lavrov curses before being asked a question by a journalist from Yemen. During the pause after his speech and before the journalists' questions, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry was distracted by a brief conversation with his deputy Mikhail Galuzin. "You guessed it. Not bad already… No, to hell with it, that’s it," Lavrov said, commenting on Galuzin's phrase.

Pro-Kremlin Telegram channels believed that Lavrov's profanity was directed at the journalist from Yemen, who was given the floor immediately after the described episode. However, the recording of the event's broadcast does not allow for a definitive answer to this question.

The Russian Foreign Minister has previously resorted to profanity in public. Earlier, his phrase "Fools, damn it," said to someone unrelated at a press conference with the Saudi Foreign Minister, became known and turned into a meme.
