As we have already reported, the man opened fire at the Washington Hilton hotel in Washington, where a reception of the White House Correspondents' Association was held with the participation of the U.S. President.
Thirty-one-year-old Cole Thomas Allen, who has been charged with shooting at a dinner attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, was previously working as a regular teacher in Torrance, California, the Daily Mail reported.
Officials note that the man had no criminal record and had not come to the attention of law enforcement in Washington. The publication specifies that Allen has a brother named Gabriel and two sisters — Stephanie and Arviana.
Journalists point out that the teacher posted photos online depicting him with family members at graduations and other celebrations. According to information on the man's social media, he holds a higher education degree and has outstanding academic achievements.
At the California Institute of Technology, Allen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He also completed a master's program in computer science. The man described himself online as "a mechanical engineer and computer science specialist by education, a game developer by experience, and a teacher by calling."
Notably, the participant in the incident with Trump indicated his involvement in the Christian fellowship Caltech Christian Fellowship and the Nerf enthusiasts club Nerf Caltech Nerf Club. In December 2024, he was named Teacher of the Month at C2 Education (an American educational company). Such honors are typically awarded to outstanding educators.
