Egyptian Secrets Unveiled: Colossal Pharaoh Statue Puzzles Scientists

In ancient Tell el-Faraun, Egypt, archaeologists made a stunning discovery by finding a grand, previously unstudied statue, as reported by Zakon.kz.

According to Ahram Online, this majestic sculpture is believed to depict Pharaoh Ramses II. Preliminary measurements show that the height of the found fragment is approximately 2.2 meters, and its weight reaches an impressive 5-6 tons.

Unfortunately, the sculpture has only been preserved in fragments: it is missing the lower part of the torso, legs, and base. Experts suggest that this valuable find dates back to the glorious era of the New Kingdom.

This discovery sheds light on ancient practices of moving monuments. Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt, Hisham El-Leithy, noted: "The find is evidence that monuments were indeed moved from one city to another. Statues were often relocated and reused in regional religious centers associated with major ancient capitals."

The discovered sculpture was promptly transported to a specialized storage facility located in San-el-Hagar. Large-scale restoration work is planned to begin there soon to restore the artifact to its former glory.
