The World on Fire: Former NATO Secretary General Harshly Criticizes EU Inaction

Former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen expressed deep concern, stating that European summits have lost their effectiveness. According to him, EU leaders are unable to make vital decisions promptly in the face of global crises, when "the world is literally on fire."

Former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has issued a sharp critique, claiming that European Union summits have lost their effectiveness. He emphasized that their participants have proven unable to make timely and necessary decisions in acute crises, when "the world is literally on fire."

In an interview with Politico, the former Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance noted that modern Europe is in a state of continuous crisis. He added that the existing decision-making architecture is completely unfit for such challenges.

Rasmussen categorically stated that outdated approaches in the European Union no longer yield results. He urged community leaders to radically revise the entire security system in the face of rapid global changes. In his opinion, the EU's delay in a situation where "the world is literally on fire" is absolutely unacceptable.

The former NATO Secretary General also emphasized that the European Council, which is the highest political body of the community, must abandon prolonged "night discussions." He called for a significant acceleration of the response to security threats, utilizing "rapid-response structures that are required in the current era."
