The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is launching a service investigation to assess the actions of law enforcement during the recent terrorist attack in Kyiv. The public will learn about the results in the near future.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Igor Klymenko, has ordered the initiation of a service investigation regarding the actions of police officers who failed to prevent the deaths of civilians during the terrorist attack in Kyiv. This decision comes in the wake of a deep tragedy that claimed the lives of innocent people.
Klymenko emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating: "I have instructed the head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vyhivskyi, to conduct a service investigation into the actions of the police during the terrorist attack in Kyiv and to provide all information to the State Bureau of Investigations."
Importance of Professionalism
According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the slogan "to serve and protect" is not just words, but a commitment that requires professional actions. This is especially relevant in critical moments when the competence of law enforcement can determine human lives. The results and all decisions made following the service investigation will be promptly made public by the National Police.
Progress of the Investigation and Suspension of Employees
The head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi, added that the involved police officers have been temporarily suspended from their duties during the investigation. He emphasized that it is crucial to establish all circumstances of the incident without exceptions.
Vyhivskyi stated: "We must establish all circumstances of the incident without exceptions: existing video materials are being studied, including those circulated online, and witnesses are being interviewed. All collected information will be forwarded to the State Bureau of Investigations." The leadership is interested in a maximally objective and impartial investigation.
Consequences of the Terrorist Attack
The National Police assured that the public will be informed of the results of the investigation in the near future. Investigators have already classified the killing of civilians in the capital as a terrorist act that resulted in loss of life.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko previously reported a shocking number of casualties and injuries. As a result of the terrorist's actions, 6 people died, 9 were injured and hospitalized. Another 6 injured, including a four-month-old infant, received assistance right at the scene.
