Tasnim: Iran has opened the Strait of Hormuz to humanitarian cargo and essential goods.
Iran has opened the Strait of Hormuz to vessels carrying humanitarian cargo and essential goods. This was reported by the Tasnim agency.
"The passage of vessels with humanitarian and essential goods through the Strait of Hormuz to Iranian ports and the Gulf of Oman has been permitted," the publication states.
Previously, Iran categorized countries whose vessels use the Strait of Hormuz into three categories: "friendly," "neutral," and "hostile." It is claimed that only countries from the first category have the right to free passage through the strait.
On April 3, it became known that Tehran may maintain a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz for vessels from the U.S. and their allies for an extended period.
