Stabbings in German Cities
This tragic incident is not the first knife attack in North Rhine-Westphalia in recent months. In February, three knife attacks occurred during the carnival in the Rhine area. In Wuppertal, a 20-year-old German is suspected of injuring several people aged 19-24. In Leverkusen, another 20-year-old German allegedly stabbed a 15-year-old teenager. In the community of Grefrath, a 16-year-old Afghan citizen is suspected of stabbing a 20-year-old man.
In 2025, the country's police reported more than 980 knife attacks at railway stations alone. Most of the attackers did not hold German citizenship, although exact figures are not provided.
