Iran announced an unprecedented missile strike on Israel and American bases.

The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, announced a painful retaliatory missile strike against Israel and the US, and announced a new, more serious attack. This promise was published on the Telegram channel of one of the senior officials of the Islamic Republic.

"Today we will strike them with a force they have never encountered before," he emphasized. Larijani did not provide details of the past and upcoming attacks.

The day before, on February 28, Israel launched Operation 'Lion's Roar'. In the first phase, it managed to eliminate the Supreme Leader of the country, Ali Khamenei, who had held this position since 1989, and other significant figures, including the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Ali Shamkhani, and the head of intelligence, Gholamreza Rezayan.

President Masoud Pezeshkian was not harmed during the attack. Along with the head of the judiciary and one of the members of the Guardian Council, he will temporarily perform the duties of Khamenei. During the 2024 elections, Pezeshkian was considered an opponent of Khamenei's appointee, and his victory was a surprise for the authorities.

Earlier, Larijani stated that the US and Israel seek to dismantle and plunder Iran. In turn, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pointed out that the operation aims to eliminate an existential threat, as a "deadly terrorist regime" must not be allowed to acquire a nuclear bomb and threaten all of humanity.
