Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei died in his residence during strikes by the U.S. and Israel carried out on the morning of February 28, reported the Fars agency, which is managed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The agency reported that the strike killed Ali Khamenei's daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and one of his daughters-in-law, as quoted by "Meduza".
Khamenei's residence in Tehran was destroyed as a result of strikes by the U.S. and Israel, according to published satellite images.
According to IRNA, after the death of the Supreme Leader, the country will be temporarily led by the president, the head of the judiciary, and one of the members of the Guardian Council.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Ali Khamenei was dead. Israel stated that the Supreme Leader of Iran was killed as a result of an Israeli strike.
Iran has declared a 40-day mourning period.
