Prime Minister Fico: Slovakia stops emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine.
Slovakia is stopping emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine. This was announced by the country's Prime Minister Robert Fico in a video address posted on the politician's Facebook page.
"Given the seriousness of the situation and the declared state of oil emergency in Slovakia, we are forced to resort to the first response measure immediately under these circumstances," he emphasized.
The Slovak leader made this decision in response to the Ukrainian authorities halting the transit of oil through the Druzhba pipeline. According to Fico, he was ready to discuss this issue with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but the latter stated that he could only start the conversation "after February 25."
At the same time, Robert Fico noted that Slovakia would resume electricity supplies if Ukraine revises its decision on oil transit.
